FAQ

Frequently asked questions about ProofFabric.

General

What is ProofFabric?

ProofFabric is a verified proof-of-execution platform for builders. It helps you prove what you've shipped — not just what you claim.

Who is ProofFabric for?

Anyone who builds and ships things:

  • Indie hackers
  • Developers
  • Content creators
  • Entrepreneurs
  • Career changers learning to build

What makes ProofFabric different from a portfolio?

Verification. Anyone can claim they built something. ProofFabric lets you prove it with:

  • Domain ownership verification
  • GitHub repository linking
  • Live URL checks
  • Automatic screenshots

Proof Cards

What counts as "proof"?

We verify two types of shipped work:

  1. Live Products: Apps, tools, APIs, websites that are accessible
  2. Published Content: Newsletters, blogs, videos, podcasts with a public URL

What doesn't count?

We don't verify:

  • Closed sales deals
  • Marketing campaign metrics
  • Designs that didn't ship
  • Work in progress

Why only two proof types?

We focus on what can be independently verified. A live URL or published content can be checked. Claims about sales or internal work cannot.

Can I add work from my job?

Yes, if it's publicly accessible and you have permission to share it.

Verification

Is verification required?

No. You can create proof cards without verification. But verified cards have more credibility.

What does "Stated" mean?

"Stated" means you claim it, but we couldn't independently verify it. For example:

  • Private GitHub repositories
  • Self-reported information

What does "Verified" mean?

"Verified" means we independently confirmed it:

  • Domain TXT record matches
  • Public GitHub repo shows your ownership

How long does domain verification take?

Usually 5-15 minutes after adding the TXT record. DNS propagation can take up to 48 hours in rare cases.

Co-Builders

Can I credit teammates on a project?

Yes! Use the Co-Builders feature to invite teammates to claim their own credit. Each person gets their own card with their own role description.

Do co-builders need an account?

Yes. When you invite someone, they'll be prompted to sign in or create an account to accept the invite.

What's the difference between Co-Builder, Contributor, and Advisor?

  • Co-Builder: Equal partner who helped build the core of the project
  • Contributor: Made meaningful contributions to specific parts
  • Advisor: Provided guidance, feedback, or advice

Can I remove a co-builder?

Yes. As the card owner, you can remove co-builders from your card at any time. Their linked card remains on their profile but loses the verified connection.

How many co-builders can I invite?

Free users can invite up to 2 co-builders per card. Pro users have unlimited invites.

Pricing

Is ProofFabric free?

  • 1 proof card
  • All verification types
